Prof. Klaus Rennebeck

The cornerstone for the Leonardis Foundation was laid by the inventor Prof. Klaus Rennebeck (* 14.01.1944, † 10.4.2010) with his patents. His inventions are based on the principles of bionics.

"Nature is our best teacher“

Corresponding to this slogan Prof. Klaus Rennebeck transcribed phenomena of nature to technical and medical applications. His big role model was Leonardo da Vinci. Based on the core question „How do living creatures succeed in using energy for this own development in an optimum way?“ Prof. Rennebeck developed unconventional and ecologically sustainable solutions.

Energy systems with nature as role model

In numerous areas of nature he discovered homogeneous tubular structures in which a highly efficient exchange of agents takes place. On basis of this model he developed energy systems with extremely high performance and stability which can be implemented as batteries in cardiac pacemakers and numerous other applications. The energy systems can be charged and discharged. They last a lifetime or are biologically degradable.

His inventions

Prof. Klaus Rennebeck’s inventions are diverse and multidisciplinary:

  • Fuel cells and energy storage systems made from biologically degradable material and optimized with regards to performance and stability
  • Novel catalyst and filter systems for water and air treatment
  • Bluetec-Technology for diesel motors to decrease emission of CO2
  • Bionically optimized thin-film ceramics for space travel
  • Development of textiles to improve wound healing
  • Cellular treatment strategies to support self-healing powers

His medical understanding corresponded to this sustainable way of thinking and should be continued with the Leonardis Foundation in terms of preserving health, humans and nature.
